OVERVIEW
As demand for telemedicine accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic, Philips acquired IIT Reacts, an innovative telehealth collaboration platform, to rapidly expand its remote clinical capabilities. Following the acquisition, the product was rebranded as Collaboration Live.

My Role as Senior UI/UX Designer
Working within a cross-functional Agile team, I collaborated closely with Product Managers, Business Stakeholders, Solution Architects, Front-end and Back-end Developers, and Streaming Engineers to redesign the platform from the ground up. My responsibility was to simplify complex workflows, establish a consistent user experience across platforms, and align the product with Philips' enterprise design standards.

The Challenge
Reacts had been designed as a proof of concept and was experiencing rapid growth as telemedicine adoption surged during the pandemic. Following the acquisition, the product needed to evolve quickly to meet the expectations of an enterprise healthcare platform.
Key challenges included:
• Rebranding the product as part of the Philips healthcare portfolio
• Scaling the user experience to support rapid product growth
• Aligning the interface with the Philips Design Language System (DLS4)
• Improving usability while preserving existing clinical workflows
• Preparing the product for long-term scalability and future development
The Objective
The primary goal was to successfully integrate Reacts into the Philips ecosystem by delivering a cohesive user experience that reflected Philips' enterprise standards.
Key objectives included:
• Rebrand the application as Collaboration Live
• Harmonize the interface using the Philips Design Language System (DLS4)
• Improve workflow consistency and usability
• Optimize key features based on user feedback and stakeholder priorities
• Establish a design foundation that would support future product evolution

My Design Process
Working within an Agile environment, I collaborated closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Design stakeholders to iteratively refine the product.
My process included:
• Auditing the existing experience to identify usability and consistency issues
• Redesigning core screens to align with Philips' visual language
• Refining workflows to reduce friction for clinicians
• Collaborating with engineering to ensure design feasibility and implementation quality
• Iteratively validating designs through stakeholder reviews and continuous feedback
Outcome
The redesign successfully transitioned Reacts into the Philips product ecosystem, creating a more consistent, scalable, and enterprise-ready experience.
The project established the visual and interaction foundations for what would become Collaboration Live, paving the way for the next-generation platform redesign (Nova) and its broader adoption across Philips' connected healthcare portfolio.
